Meet the Sound Beach Pediatrics Team

Sound Beach Pediatrics is the culmination of a dream two years in the making.

Despite the challenges inherent in starting a new practice today, Dr. Katy was inspired by an unswerving mission to care for the broad needs of children in our community and founded the practice in the perfect location from which to serve multiple communities and her own neighbors and friends.

Dr. Henry Rascoff, beloved pediatrician for many families in the same community and prior colleague of Dr. Katy’s, shares the same vision and values. Each brings more than a decade each of clinical experience in private pediatric practice in Lower Fairfield County.

Since opening in April 2016, the practice and the Sound Beach Pediatrics team has grown. Dr. Maggie Malloy Omstrom joined in 2017, followed by Dr. Jennifer Fenster and Dr. Alyssa Schunk in 2021. This fall, Dr. Carolina Pombar and Dr. Olivia Devillers are joining our team. Meet our wonderful physicians below!

Our Mission & Philosophy

The practice mission of Sound Beach Pediatrics is a simple one.

Health

  • We believe in providing academically based, accessible health care delivered with warmth and compassion.
  • We support the health of your child, whether his or her challenges are big or small.

Family

  • We are committed to your family, and to sharing the journey of parenting with you.

Community

  • We believe in the power of our community.
  • We believe in community outreach and involvement.
  • We support community health education on a grass-roots level.
  • We share a community conscience, recognizing and seeking to address the diverse needs of families in Lower Fairfield County.

We utilize state of the art technology, to help us provide the most comprehensive and efficient care we can for our patients. We participate in most insurance plans in order to make our practice accessible to all in the community.

We are a vaccinating practice. Sound Beach Pediatrics requires that all of our patients are immunized according to the current vaccine schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Above all, we want Sound Beach Pediatrics to feel like a home for our patients, families, and for our staff. We are a team. We adore our patients. We want you and your family to feel completely at ease at our practice and want to engage with our families to make Sound Beach Pediatrics the best it can be.

Take a Tour of Our Office

Sound Beach Pediatrics is a newly designed, nautically-themed office space, originally designed in 2016 with additional space added in 2018.

With 5,000 square feet and 13 exam rooms, we are able to see patients efficiently without crowding. We have parallel reception, waiting and exam room areas, with separate “North” and “South” entrances. During the pandemic, this has enabled us to see our well visits divided by age groups. As we return to evaluating select sick patients in our office, we are uniquely poised to see well and sick patients completely separately. Extra precautions are taken daily to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients and our staff, and our office is kept immaculately clean.

A special thanks to gifted local artist Felicity Kotsakis, for sharing her lovely paintings with us from our opening day.
