The Early Years
Dr. Carolina Pombar is a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina. She completed her initial education at Villa Devoto School where she was Valedictorian and School Captain.
Medical Degree & Residency
Dr. Carolina received her medical degree from Universidad del Salvador in Buenos Aires and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She completed pediatric residency training at Ricardo Gutierrez Children’s Hospital in Buenos Aires, one of the leading children’s hospitals in the country, and Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai-Elmhurst Hospital, where she was Chief Resident.
In Practice
After her training, Dr. Caro stayed at Elmhurst Hospital’s Pediatric Primary Care Center, where she cared for vulnerable populations, trained new pediatricians, and helped develop a new educational curriculum.
Her next professional role was as a beloved pediatrician at Mount Sinai Doctors Faculty Practice Associates in Manhattan, with an academic post as an Assistant Professor. During her time there, Dr. Caro worked to improve doctor-patient communication and the delivery of medical education to families.
She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics.
At Home & In The Community
Dr. Caro is passionate about equitable access to medical care, patient advocacy and medical education. She is an active volunteer for Sights on Health, an NGO that delivers care to vulnerable communities in the United States and South America. She has enjoyed several medical missions to Peru.
She lives in Riverside with her husband Daniel, their two children, and their yellow lab Tango. She is proud of her Hispanic heritage, which is deeply rooted in tradition, love of family, and a spirit of resilience. She loves to travel, to read and spend time with her family and friends as she has very strong ties to the Argentinean Community in Riverside. She speaks fluent Spanish.
